In the two photos below we see Movie superstar, Clark Gable sporting his Patek Philippe Reference 1526 Moonphase. As far as I know, these photos are the first photographic evidence to be shared publicly that confirms Clark Gable wore a complicated Patek Philippe.

I wish I could find and publish more images like these, but often times, trying to find photos like these is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Clark Gable is probably best known for his role as Rhett Butler in the 1939 Civil War Epic Saga film Gone With the Wind. The American Film Institute, in 1999 named Clark Gable seventh among the greatest male stars of all time.

This 34mm beauty has a movement made in 1942 and the case was completed in 1948. It sold for $2,773,721 at Chistie's Auction House on November 16, 2009.

Update: Afredo, from Italy, is a reader of Jake's Patek Philippe World, and after seeing the 1949 Patek Philippe ad (above), sent in a photo of his Platinum Patek Philippe [Reference 2424] with a very unique dial from Casa Welsch, which is located in Lima, Peru. This Patek Philppe ad is so pretty and well done. I can't figure out if the photo of the three generations of mother, daughter and granddaughter is a new photo or an old photo from the late 1960s?

I say this because there are so many visual cues that suggest it is from the mid to late 1960s, such as their clothing and the mother's make-up. Also, they seem to be sitting in the back of a car that is moving and none of them are wearing seat belts, and I think they are either sitting in the back of a Mercedes or Rolls Royce, that lacks headrests.

All I can say is that if the advertising agency's stylist shot this recently, they are extremely talented ;-)

The mystery has been solved!!! Eric Clapton is pictured below wearing a very rare customized Patek Philippe 5970, with applied white gold numerals. Patek Philippe produced just a few 5970's for special customers, in all materials with this configuration. This is the first time I have ever seen this stunning model!!!
