I was stunned with how beautiful Patek Philippe's historical collection was, and as time permits, in the future, I plan to publish a super-detailed review with many more detailed photos, of the splendor that lies behind these gates.

This magnificent Patek Philippe watch was auctioned by Antiquorum years ago and it is just beautiful. I have always preferred the black dial moon phase watches over the white, since they have more of a "nighttime" vibe. This watch was sold by Antiquorum Auction House in 2006 for around $300,000.

How rare is the Patek Philippe Reference 2499? Patek Philippe only made 370 examples in 35 years, which means only 9 per year!!! Who many exist with a black dial? I only know of 2 and this is one of them.

Nicolas Sarkozy is married to recording artist and former fashion model, Carla Bruni. In the photo of them below, we get a clear shot of Nicolas Sarkozy's seal of Calatrava buckle on his wrist.

I am including these photo of the white gold Patek Philippe Reference 3940G to give a frame of reference for what it looks like, but I have yet to find an image of this beautiful watch that accurately captures its stunningly good looks.

Rock and Roll singer, singer, guitarist extroordinare, John Mayer is pictured below with his super-hot girlfriend, and fellow recording sensation, Katy Perry at the 2013 Grammy Awards. 

It is difficult to see the exact detail on John Mayer's Patek Philippe. It appears to be a custom-made Patek Philippe 5004 in Rose gold, with a matching rose gold bracelet. John Mayer is also rocking some cool Patek Philippe cufflinks, that have the seal of Calatrava on them.

In the photo below, Ellen Degeneres seems to be in awe of Katy Perry's stunning necklace and can't seem to stop staring at it!

Same thing with Ryan Seacrest, who also can't seem to stop staring at Katy Perry's beautiful necklace!

Sells for $3.6 Million At Christie's Auction

This is a photo of Eric Clapton's Platinum Patek Philippe Reference 2499 which sold recently at a Christies auction for $3.6 Million. This sets a new world record for the Patek Philippe Reference 2499, which Patek Philippe made for 35 years beginning in 1951. 

The Reference 2499 is rare as Patek Philippe only made 349 of this watch mode, which averages about 10 per year. There are only two know Platinum versions of this reference, and the other one is in the Patek Philippe museum, making this one the only one in the world in private hands!!!

Eric Clapton is a huge watch/fanatic/collector and he is pictured below wearing his Patek Philippe Reference 5970, which is the son of the Reference 2499 that he just auctioned.
